Interest in health projects began in 2002 with the implementation of medical convoys in remote areas and providing medical care for sponsored orphans and the needy. The qualitative shift in health work began with the establishment and operation of the Al-Rahma Development Complex, which included in its plan a "small medical clinic" to care for the orphans of the complex.
It was initially planned to have only one general practitioner, but the idea was developed during implementation from a clinic to a specialized medical dispensary with several medical specialties. The location was chosen to be a separate building on the western edge of the complex to serve the surrounding community, and it includes an external pharmacy. This was in 2008, followed by major development in the hospital to become the first in the Horn of Africa, with successive expansions in 2012.
